The Black Series: Light in the Void

In the Black Series, I strip away the distractions of color to explore the absolute extremes of light and shadow. Using the deepest black and brightest white pigments currently available, these works are a technical challenge in contrast and a philosophical exploration of the "inner light" that exists within the darkness.

By utilizing high-density pigments, I am able to create a visual experience where the blacks absorb all surrounding light, allowing the white highlights to emerge with almost sculptural intensity.

The Power of Absolute Contrast

• The Depth of Black: I use specialized pigments that provide a non-reflective, infinite depth, creating a void that pushes the subject forward into the viewer's space.

• The Brilliance of White: The highlights are applied with pure, high-opacity whites to capture the glint of a lens, the texture of a beard, or the moisture in an eye with startling clarity.

• A Modern Chiaroscuro: This series is my contemporary response to the classical chiaroscuro technique—finding the drama and dignity of the human form through the starkest possible lens.
